¡Mucha Lucha! (later known as ¡Mucha Lucha!: Gigante for the third and final season) is an North American animated television series that premiered on Kids' WB! on August 17, 2002. It was created by Eddie Mort and Lili Chin and produced by Warner Bros. Animation. It is the first animated television series created with Adobe Flash, a program which became widely used as a medium for animation in the years following.

Why It Rocks[]

  1. Unlike most of the Flash cartoons, which was only produced for the internet, it was the first-ever Flash cartoon produced exclusivley for television.
  2. Great voice acting. However in the Spanish dub, the voice acting was getting a lot more superb.
  3. Surreal humor was excellent, similar to the early Fleischer Studios cartoons.
  4. The theme song is pure Mexican, thanks to the Mexican hip-hop musical group, Chicos de Barrio.
  5. The backgrounds was almost stylized for the 1950s standards.
  6. The flash animation was terrific for the last two seasons and a movie.
  7. It spawned a feature film, this time as a direct-to-video release.
  8. Character designs are set the standards of the modern-day cartoons.
  9. Like the Speedy Gonzales cartoons, it had great depictions of Mexican culture.
  10. Every character wore a wrestling mask was pure memorable.
  11. It was officially inspired by the most popular sport in Mexico, Lucha Libre.
  12. It spawned a video game, entitled Mascaritas of the Lost Code.
  13. The shapeshifting moves are extremely hilarious.
  14. The slapstick humor for this series, was amazingly inspired by Mexican slapstick comedies of the 1990s.
  15. The success of the ¡Mucha Lucha! series, led the other major animation studios to produce Flash cartoons only for TV.

Bad Qualities[]

  1. For its first season, the animation could be very lazy.
  2. Overuse of gross-out jokes, especially for the Flea.

Trivia[]

  • Carlos Alazraqui was replaced by Jason Marsden as the voice of Rikochet in the final season, due to Alazraqui's commitments on Reno 911!.
