Bittomo × Heroine Kirameki Powers! (ビッ友x戦士 キラメキパワーズ！, Bittomo Senshi Kirameki Pawāzu!) is a Japanese tokusatsu TV drama series that began airing on July 11, 2021. It is the fifth instalment in the Girls × Heroine Series produced by Takara Tomy and OLM, Inc. (with the assistance of Shogakukan and EXPG Studio).
The series stars Tsubaki Nagayama, Hiiro Fukasawa, Yuwa Higa & Kanna Sato. Additional cast members include Kurea Masuda (Girls2) and Ukyo Matsumoto. The series is also narrated by Atsuko Maeda. The plot centers around the Kirameki Powers, a quartet (was a duo for the first 12 episodes) who protect the world from the Makkura Empire, with the help of those from the Kirapawa Kingdom. The series celebrates the franchise's 5th anniversary.
The show will also launch a brief idol career for the main cast members. It will also be the first Girls × Heroine Series instalment to be shown in Okinawa via Ryukyu Broadcasting Corporation from July 25, 2021.
Plot[]
5th grade elementary school student, Kirari Momose, encounters a fairy who jumps out of a game console. The fairy, Himenyan, is actually the Princess of the Kirapawa Kingdom, a kingdom located in a popular sword and magic game "Kirapawa Morimori Adventure". The Princess, who was afraid of the enemy, ran away but was chased by those from the Makkura Empire. Becoming friends with Kirari, Kirari transforms into the "Heroine of the Sun, Kirapawa Sunny" where she fights the Makkura Empire. Joining with Yuzuki Shimori, Honoka Akahoshi and Koyuki Aoba along the way, the four collect the Kirapawa Memories in order to win against the Witch of Darkness, Makkulala.
Why It Started The Game[]
- It was inspired by Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, due to them both having videogame motifs in former and the latter.
- There are likable characters such as Kirari Momose/Kirapawa Sunny, Yuzuki Shimori/Kirapawa Moon, Makkukurasuke and many more.
- It is the first instalment to air in the Ryukyu Islands.
- In fact, The Girls x Heroine series was originally mainland Japan exclusive.
- There are also references to bitter melon (known as nigauri in Japanese and goya in a Okinawan language.)
- Great references to the Okinawa Islands due to the fact portrayers Tsubaki Nagayama & Yuwa Higa hailing from there.
- The openings, insert songs and endings make you want to root for the team.
- There are episodes that are so great such as "The Decisive Battle of the Metamor Memory!" and "B-Beep Bittomo! Kirameki Powers!"
- The henchmen of the Makku Empire are comedic reliefs such as Yamisaburou and Yamijirou.
- AKB48's Atsuko Maeda thankfully replaces Toshiyuki Toyonaga, due how obnoxious his voice really is to some people.
- They did a crossover with Police × Heroine Lovepatrina!.
- Claris goes through character development in episode 43 and redeems herself.
Bad Qualities[]
- Makkulala can be DOWNRIGHT unlikable due to how she treats her henchmen.
- Himenyan's voice can be cute for some, but unbearable to those who are easily annoyed.
- In the very first half, There are so much filler that the producers added in.
- On April 10th 2022, this show became a victim to executive meddling, due to this, future episodes were shortened to 12 minutes and RizSta! took up the half of the timeslot.
