Caillou is a Canadian educational children's television series that was first shown on Télétoon and Teletoon, with its first episode airing on the former channel on September 15, 1997; the show later moved to Treehouse TV, with its final episode being shown on that channel on October 3, 2010. The series, based on the books by Hélène Desputeaux, centers on a 4-year-old boy named Caillou who is fascinated by the world around him.

Why It Can Grow Some More.

  1. The show can often teach gold messages for children, such as sharing and not saying bad words to anybody.
  2. Caillou and Rosie are cute little kids.
  3. The show started improve in later seasons, especially seasons 4-5.
  4. The theme song is pretty good and catchy.
  5. Top-notch acting, even though Caillou can be annoying, his actors put a lot of effort into their role as him, his parents' actors are also very good.
  6. Great animation in the first three seasons.
  7. Great development for Caillou, he starts out as a whiny, screaming toddler, but improves into a more down-to earth, mature everyday explorer.

Bad Qualities

  1. Seasons 1-3 had a few cruel moments, such as Rosie getting tortured by Caillou and their parents never scolded him or Caillou himself getting tortured when it's not his fault.
  2. Caillou can be very controversial and unlikable at times, due to the title character's constant whining and temper tantrums rubbing off on it's young viewers, unlike The Powerpuff Girls (1998) where Bubbles cries. However thus may be his parents' fault. He also can be a Butt-Monkey type-character (a character that gets abused for no reason)
  3. Despite the theme song being catchy, it can get on people's nerves at times.
  4. Some of the quotes can be super annoying such as "Silly old car! Silly! Silly! Silly! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!"
  5. “Caillou Joins the Circus“ and “Big Brother Caillou” are considered to be the worst episodes of the series. Also, "Caillou Joins the Circus" never aired on the now defunct PBS Kids Sprout network since it was banned for bad behavior.

6. Despite the fourth and fifth season being improvements, they still have their flaws, with Caillou becoming a Gary-Stu, morals being shoved down your throat, and the animation switching to Adobe flash and becoming horrendous.

  • Caillou's second voice actor: Jaclyn Linetsky died at 17 on September 8, 2003 where she, along with actor Vadim Schneider, were killed while driving in a Dodge Caravan, crashed into a semi-truck while driving to a set of the TV show: 15/Love.
  • A GoAnimate web series: “Caillou Gets Grounded” has gotten popular on Vyond and YouTube, up to the point where it is more popular than the show itself.
