He-Man and the Masters of the Universe is an animated television series created by Filmation, based on the Mattel toy line Masters of the Universe. It ran for two seasons from 1983 to 1984.

Summary[]

The series follows the adventures of He-Man, the most powerful man of the universe, and his adventures in saving Eternia, Castle Grayskull and entire universe from the evil forces of Skeletor.

Why it Rocks[]

  1. It's a perfect story with action moments.
  2. Great voice acting.
  3. Memorable villains that look evil and awesome, such as Skeletor.
  4. Great music choices, especially the opening and ending themes.
  5. Amazing characters.
  6. Adam's transformation into He-Man looks impressive.
  7. Good morals.
  8. Orko despite causing trouble sometimes, is really considered the most loved by everyone.
  9. Spawned many memes, such as HEYAYEHAYEAH.
  10. It spawned a whole franchise, with toys, comics, a spinoff (She-Ra: Princess Of Power, a show about He-Man/Adam's sister She-Ra/Adora, which later got its own reboot in 2018 called She-Ra and the Princesses of Power), a reboot series in 2002, a movie, and a CGI reboot and continuation of the original series in 2021.
  11. Although the sexual harassment PSA featuring He-Man and She-Ra was very awkward in some places, it was successful in getting kids to admit to being sexually harassed.

Bad Qualities[]

  1. The animation looks weak, especially by modern standards. Scenes were often repeated in nearly every episode. This is because Filmation often prioritized quantity over quality, resulting in their cartoons looking cheap.
  2. Orko can be annoying sometimes.
  3. The He-Man & She-Ra Christmas special was not well received.
  4. The 1987 movie was not well received.

Trivia[]

  • The He-Man toyline was originally based on Conan The Barbarian.
  • He-Man was not only popular in the United States of America, it was also popular in Europe (especially in Italy), too.
