Farm), and stars Brendan Meyer, Matreya Fedor, and Gig Morton as attendees of Finnegan High School. Further main cast includes Kurt Ostlund, Emily Tennant, and Milo Shandel. The show ended its run on November 28, 2013 with three seasons and 80 episodes.

Premise[]

Mr. Young centers on Adam Young (Brendan Meyer), who graduated from university at the age of 14. He decides to come back to high school as a science teacher to live the high school "experience". He reunites with childhood best friend Derby (Gig Morton) and encounters the school bully, Slab (Kurt Ostlund), and a student in his class whom he has a crush on, named Echo (Matreya Fedor). However, because he is only 14, his students have a bit respect for him, and he often gets into trouble with the principal for his childlike behaviour.

Why It's Such A Genius[]

  1. A show about a teenage science teacher is really interesting to watch.
  2. Lots of great episodes like, Mr. Tickleschmootz and the pilot episode, Mr. Young.
  3. Preston Pickles is a great antagonist.
  4. Adam's a likable protagonist.
  5. Hilarious running gags like the fact that Slab's relatives look exactly like him, Derby always falling asleep when Adam says something smart and Mrs. Byrne always teaching the War of 1812 due to her bad memory.
  6. There isn't that much innuendo which is actually a good thing.
  7. Other likable characters like Echo, Derby, and Mrs. Byrne.
  8. The theme song, duh.
  9. A funny scene in the episode, Mr. Masterpiece, where Adam tries to hypnotize Mrs. Byrne into remembering where Fernando hid his paintings but it backfired and made the entire gang, except for Adam and Echo, think they're babies.
  10. The other running gag used in a lot of episodes where someone says dang and then the janitor, Dang, appears saying "You called" and then the other characters in the scene scream.
  11. It had a finale that was a heartwarming way to end the show. Plus, Part 1 is the highest rated episode of the show on IMDb.

Bad Qualities[]

  1. Sometimes, Tater's childish behavior and Dang appearing out of nowhere can be annoying.
  2. A few bad/average episodes every once in a while including, "Mr. Elderman", Mr. Cyclops, and Mr. Candidate.
  3. Season 3 never actually aired on TV in the USA.
  4. The CGI effects haven't aged well by today's standards.
  5. There can be some innuendo like in the episode, Mr. Tickeschmootz, when in the beginning, it seemed like Mrs. Byrne was spelling the A word but then we find out she was spelling assignments. While it's funny, it's also very inappropriate even if it wasn't an actual bad word spelling.

Reception[]

Even though the show received mixed reviews from online critics, like Common Sense Media, the show did have mostly positive reviews.

Episodes with their own pages[]

  • Mr. Sleep
  • Mr. Finale

Trivia[]

  • The reason Season 3 never aired in the United States was because there was a court case involving the show about it being a supposed copy of the student teacher concept in real life. But in early 2014, Disney won the court case.
  • Dan Singer, the creator of this show, was also the creator of a Netflix original comedy show called Some Assembly Required. The Show had a similar premise and was also just as decent as this show. Not officially a Netflix original production, the show actually aired on YTV, the same network as this show, in Canada, while the first two seasons were made available on Netflix and the third season on Amazon Prime Video internationally. it arrived for streaming on Netflix on October 16, 2015.
  • In the episode Mr. Sci-Fi, you can hear Adam say "crappy".
  • Mr. Young was available on Netflix up until January 1st.
  • The show currently aired on YTV in Canada and Disney XD in the US.
  • Currently all the episodes can be found on the YouTube channel, Maggi Niya.
  • Brendan Meyer, the actor of Adam Young, also plays Henry from the 2012 Disney Channel Original Movie, Girl vs. Monster.
