Pucca (짜장소녀 뿌까, Jjajang Sonyeo Ppukka), is an animated slapstick comedy television series based on a series of shorts created by the South Korean company VOOZ Character System. The series revolves around Pucca, a young girl who is in love and obsessed with a young ninja boy named Garu. It was aired on Jetix from 2006 to 2008.

Summary

The series centers around the adventures of an 11-year-old girl named Pucca, who lives in a town called Sooga Village. Her love interest is a 12-year-old ninja named Garu, who owns a cat. Her uncles work in the local restaurant called the Goh-Rong, whose main dish is Jajangmyeon noodles. Then, there's her best friend Ching, who is the same age and is in love with a boy named Abyo, who likes Kung-Fu a lot and is interested in girls.

Why It Rocks

1. Being based on the shorts by VOOZ, it manages to be faithful to its source material.
2. The antics between Pucca trying to get Garu to love her is a joy to watch.
3. There is lots of zany action and Tex Avery-style slapstick humor.
4. Some of the songs are quite good, especially the intro song.
5. The voice acting is quite decent.
6. It was cartoonier, wackier and more slapsticky than Pucca Funny Love.
7. It doesn’t lack in funny moments, not even in the slightest.
8. The settings in some of the episodes take place in different locations around the world.
9. Most of the characters are very funny, likable and clever.
10. Fluid animation that is true to the VOOZ shorts.
11. The characters are very cute.
12. The plot for each episode is simple and easy to follow.
13. Pucca and Garu are very expressive, even if they don’t speak.
14. Tobe and Ring Ring are fantastic villains.
15. The person who voices Tobe stays perfectly in character. He also gives the character an amazing voice.
16. The theme song is very cute.
17. The fast-paced animation of Pucca and Garu running during the start of the opening theme looks really cool.

Bad Qualities

1. Garu and Pucca don’t speak at all.
2. Abyo is very annoying.
3. The plot is strange sometimes.
4. It seems to have more characters than it needs to have.
5. It was never revealed why Garu and Tobe are arch enemies.
