Time to see Sailor Moon like you never see her before.
Sailor Moon Crystal Is a 2014 anime adaptation of the shōjo manga series Sailor Moon written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi and produced in commemoration of the original series' 20th anniversary. It is the second anime adaptation of the manga followed by the original from 1992.
Why it Rocks[]
- Much like Dragon Ball Z Kai, this series is a much more faithful adaptation of the manga.
- The pacing is much better in this series and there is no filler.
- Cutesy animation.
- The English dub is very good, sharing the same voice actors as the HD remaster dub of the original anime. The English voice actors were chosen by Naoko Takeuchi, creator of the manga and therefore the franchise.
- Unlike in the original Sailor Moon anime, the characters are much closer to how they are portrayed in the manga.
- Great intro and outro songs such as Moon Pride.
- Unlike the original anime, Chibiusa is actually likable.
- Kotono Mitsuishi reprises her role as Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon.
- Thankfully, the animation improved in Season 3.
- The artwork is pretty nice.
- The Sailor Senshi actually fight instead of standing there.
- By Season 3, the transformations got better.
Bad Qualities[]
- When the series was first released, it both looked and felt rushed.
- Seasons 1 and 2 were infamous for their "poorly-drawn" facial expressions and misproportioned body parts.
- There was an extreme lack of personalities in the first two seasons(until Season 3).
- Even though Kotono Mitsuishi reprises her role as Usagi, it sometimes doesn't feel the same as when she voiced Usagi in the original anime.
- Bad pacing in the early seasons.
- The transformations looked pretty bad in Seasons 1-2.
