The Angry Beavers is an American animated television series created by Mitch Schauer for Nickelodeon. The series premiered in the United States on April 19, 1997 and ended on June 11, 2001.

Summary[]

The series revolves around Norbert and Daggett Beaver, two young beaver brothers who have left their home to become bachelors in the forest near the fictional Wayouttatown, Oregon.

Why It Rocks[]

  1. Very creative plot that involves two rivaling brothers named Norbert and Daggett.
  2. Speaking of which, Norbert and Daggett are very likable characters, with their opposite personalities working off each other very well.
  3. Similar to later series such as Regular Show and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, many of the plots center on mundane and typical situations leading to surreal, unpredictable, and supernatural adventures.
  4. Amazing animation, background, and character designs.
  5. Like most classic Nickelodeon shows, it is very well-written.
  6. Incredibly hilarious humor, especially from Norbert and Daggett themselves. Their conflicting personalities often lead to witty banter and funny slapstick.
  7. Amazing episodes such as "Another One Bites the Musk", "Stump Looks For His Roots", "The Day the World Got Really Screwed Up", "Alley-Oops", and "Omega Beaver".
    • The series premiere "Born to be Beavers" is also a fantastic introduction to the series.
  8. Catchy theme song.
  9. Very talented voice acting and improvised dialogue from Nick Bakay and Richard Steven Horvitz.
  10. Like Hey Arnold and CatDog it was the most amazing Nicktoons of the 1990's.

Bad Qualities[]

  1. Norbert is somewhat of a jerk, and a bit unlikeable compared to Daggett.
  2. It had an episode called Bye Bye Beavers that never aired on television as Nickelodeon didn't want to mention the cancellation of the show. It is actually predicted that this episode was responsible for gracefully ending the show.
  3. It can get very annoying and mean-spirited sometimes.
  4. The character designs for human characters can be considered ugly or uncanny by some.
  5. There’s some bad episodes, like "Sang 'Em High", "Driving Misses Daggett" and "The Mom from U.N.C.L.E.".
  6. The scene in the opening with Daggett twerking. (Yes, really).

Trivia[]

  • Richard Steven Horvitz, voice actor of Daggett, is also Invader Zim.
  • The series aired reruns on TeenNick until 2017.
  • As of 2020, the show started to be available to stream on CBS All Access (now rebranded to Paramount+ as of 2021).
