Tokyo Mew Mew  (東京ミュウミュウ Tōkyō Myū Myū) is an anime about five magical girls with the DNA of endangered animals that save the earth from aliens. It is an adaptation of an Japanese shōjo manga series written by Reiko Yoshida and illustrated by Mia Ikumi.

Why It Rocks

  1. They have a nice concept of the main protagonists infused with animal DNA. This is very interesting.
  2. Great dynamic between the Mew Mews.
  3. Wonderfully animated transformations from all of them.
  4. The backgrounds/setting are beautifully designed.
  5. Catchy opening and ending songs to dance and sing along to.
  6. Lovable characters, such as Ichigo Momomiya/Mew Ichigo (in pink) , Minto Aizawa/Mew Mint (in blue), Retasu Midorikawa/Mew Lettuce (in green), Bu-Ling Huang/Mew Pudding (in yellow) , and Zakuro Fujiwara/Mew Zakuro (in purple).
  7. Cute and entertaining.

The only BAD quality

  1. The English dub, whilst decent enough, suffered Americanisation (Japanese names changed, Japanese foods swapped out for Western ones, etc.).
